BAMC is a wholly
owned subsidiary of British Airways, located at the North West edge of
Cardiff International Airport.
It was officially opened by HRH The Prince Of Wales in June 1993
Originally set up to service only B747 aircraft, one bay was later converted
to accept B777’s, giving BAMC the capability of taking a mix of B747 and
B777 aircraft in its 3 hangar bays and also on 2 Nose-in-Facilities. Since
January 2008 the capabilities were increased when another bay was converted
to allow the B767 to also be maintained at Cardiff.
BAMC
now handles all of the heavy maintenance (‘C’ check and ‘D’ check) and
modifications on BA's fleet of 57 747-400's, 21 B767's and 43 777
aircraft. Recently it aquired new capability to undertake maintenance
of the fleet of new B787's.
It forms part of BA's group of south Wales facilities, with British Airways
Interiors Engineering (BAIE) and British Airways Avionic Engineering (BAAE)
located nearby at Blackwood and Llantrisant respectively.
